The Role

Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Mining Engineer will own production, drill and blast and short term scheduling. They will work diligently to keep operations provided with all the plans and direction needed to succeed and by identifying improvement opportunities to help us all be better. The mining engineer will complete all their duties in a safe and timely manner.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, close-knit team, where you can work with autonomy whilst still having the support of experienced senior engineers. At Cracow your ideas, improvements and strategies are not only heard, but actually trialled and implemented!

Cracow gold mine is a challenging narrow vein gold mine currently mining a combination of new and remnant areas with multiple mining methods. Each design and plan is developed on its own merit, there is no cut and paste here, meaning this role is a real opportunity to work in a diverse environment where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the weekly planning processes to ensure Cracow mine achieves best possible production outcomes
  • Develop and deliver high quality drill and blast plans for our long hole rigs
  • Ensure that drill and blast procedures are adhered too
  • Complete stope designs and reconciliations as required
  • Conduct regular ventilation surveys and inspections
  • Liaise closely with all operational and technical teams to ensure accurate, safe and effective plans are delivered and achieved
  • Demonstrate proactive safety behaviour

About You

You are a keen Mining Engineer, who’s gained some post graduate technical and practical experience at an underground hard rock mine site, looking to step up and challenge yourself.

You’re collaborative, organised and conscientious. You should already have experience with Deswik and Ventsim software, but above all else you must want to learn and develop your career as a mining engineer.

Additionally, you will possess the following –

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering 
  • 2 to 3+ years in mining operations, planning and/or production roles
  • Planning and drill and blast experience in an underground hard rock metalliferous environment
  • Experience using Deswik and Ventsim software
  • Strong communication and organising skills
  • The ability to working autonomously, whilst being a strong team player within the Technical Services department

Cracow is an Underground Gold Operation located some 500km North-west of Brisbane. Employing 220 people.
